We finally arrived in Madrid and stumbled our way around, not really knowing what we were doing. We spent a good 45 minutes trying to figure out how to withdrawal euros, and finally we got some money and talked to a guy about finding the Metro. Once we found it, it took us a while to figure out how to work the ticket machine, then we stumbled around as we would get on the wrong direction and then argued about which line to take. Finally, we managed to get to Puerta del Sol, the heart of Madrid.
Right as we walked out of the metro, we sat in awe of the beautiful architecture of the city. We then wondered around for a while, visited the tourist office in the plaza mayor, picked up a map, and then found a hostel. Hostel luz proved to be a pretty friendly environment and the lady that showed us the rooms was quite cute and used excessive hand motions as well as informed us that all the rooms had wee-fee. She showed us two rooms and we decided on the slightly roomier one for 45 euros instead of 40, still a steal.
Anyway, after showering and relaxing a bit, we decided to just wander aimlessly around the city. We came upon someone filming an Italian apples commercial. Here, a bunch of people are grabbing for invisible apples off a fake tree while the director yells at them in Spanish. Random.
Afterward, we went to this "tapas" restaurant that was recommended in our guide book. They serve these little hot dog like bread things filled with like 100 different choices of fillings for 1.20 euros each. They weren't bad.
Then, we wandered some more, and found a grocery store, but didn't buy anything. After more wandering, we ran into an Australian guy that was all about the party scene and was taking pictures of himself with buildings that he assumed were important in the background. He also told us all about a hostel in Nice to meet cool Swedish chicks. After he declared Madrid was a boring city with not much to see, we parted ways and ran into this statue. Not entirely sure of the significance, but I think he was overlooking the site of some now gone famous building or something... whatever.
Next, we decided to do something in the way of tourism and take a tour through the Placio Real (or the Royal Palace for you whities). We weren't allowed to photograph the inside, which was unfortunate because it was actually pretty extravagant. All these kings and queens definitely had the money to throw down on porcelain, marble, wood, gold, silver etc. Every room was incredibly nice, it its own way and each room kinda had a theme. But uhh, we got audio guides and listened to the solid like 2 hour tour on the guide. Afterward, we were incredibly exhausted, so we found ourselves a good 2 liters of Fanta for 1.6 euros and managed to down it without a problem.
Since we were both so tired from the trip and whatnot, we went back to our hostel and promptly passed out. Once we woke up it was around 10 or 11, just the beginning of nightlife in Madrid. So, we wandered around the city until we found a decent bar, and met a couple awesome French chicks (who spoke some English, which was refreshing). After spending a couple hours talking to these girls, we all headed over to a dance club, and did that for a solid probably four hours, until we finally left around 4 am and parted ways and exchanged information with these girls. So 4 am seems kinda late, but a lot of these clubs don't even open until midnight, so 4 is definitely par if not on the early side. I think there were more people out around 2 or 3 am then there were in the middle of the day. The nightlife is crazy.

The pictures are great! I'm glad that you guys are finding your way around Madrid without too much trouble!
I'm not going to lie, you look a little constipated in your dance club.
Christ I miss European night life.
